(the) Ulster Defence Regiment
the Ulster Defence Regiment [the Ulster Defence Regiment] (abbr the UDR)
a branch of the British Army operating in Northern Ireland. It was formed in 1970 to help to control the violence there. In 1992 it became a part of the Royal Irish Regiment.
